Which hard Italian cheese does the Zuivelhoeve?

At the Zuivelhoeve there has been a great demand for hard Italian cheese for years. For example, you can cut hard Italian cheese into cubes, but it is much more common to turn the cheese into 'flakes' with a grater. In the summary below we give you an overview of our hard Italian cheese favorites:

  • Pecorino: Pecorino shows some similarities with Parmesan cheese, but this Italian cheese has a slightly different structure. The cheese owes this different structure to the fact that it is not made from cow's milk, but sheep's milk. The Pecorino is a delicious cheese for every connoisseur who likes sharper flavors. Pecorino flakes taste very good over a tortellini or ravioli.
  • Parmigiano Reggiano: Just like Grana Padano, Parmigiano Reggiano is a branch of Parmesan cheese, although our variant is a bit more 'heavy' in taste. The cheese comes from the region around Parma and that is where it owes its name. This cheese tastes extra good next to a glass of wine!

What kind of Italian soft cheese do you offer?

Of course, the Italian soft cheese should not be missing in our rich assortment full of Italian cheese. To give you a comprehensive picture of the possibilities we offer, we list our favorites below for you:

  • Gorgonzola: Gorgonzola… you either like it or you don't. This blue mold cheese was once invented in the noordand from Italy and is often used in pasta sauces or pizzas. Also tastes delicious on toast!
  • Burrata: Burrata is a white cheese that is often eaten in combination with basil and tomato. This Italian cheese comes from a wat zuidfairer region.
  • Mozzarella: Mozzarella is as often confused with burrata as pecorino is with parmigiano. Mozzarella is an ingredient of burrata and has a slightly creamier taste.
