At Zuivelhoeve we have a wide range of different herbal cheeses. Our cumin cheese is one of the most popular herb cheeses. Cumin cheese is a typical Dutch product; it is originally a real Leiden cheese. When making cumin cheese, the cumin is added to the curd. As a result, the cumin seeds are distributed throughout cheese. During the ripening of cumin cheese, the taste of the cumin is absorbed into the cheese. The following applies: the older the cheese, the more intense the taste of cumin. The taste of cumin cheese is spicy and slightly nutty. Cumin cheese is delicious on a sandwich, but also fits well on a cheese board or in an oven dish.

Cheese with cumin

Cumin is an ancient spice that is very popular in world cuisine. Cumin grows on the Cuminum cyminum, a plant from the umbellifer family. The seeds of this plant are harvested by hand. These are the cumin seeds that are used in various dishes, such as curries and Indian dishes, but also in cheese. Cumin has many health benefits, such as it is a good source of iron, fiber, minerals and antioxidants and ensures better digestion. In addition to being tasty, it is also healthy!
