Crumbly cheese flavor

Crumbled cheese is one of the longest-ripening cheeses. The crumbled cheese is ripened for 2 to 5 years on wooden shelves in the warehouse. When a cheese ages, it loses moisture and becomes drier. The moisture loss ensures that the cheese tastes even stronger. Due to the long maturation time, the crumbled cheese has a spicy and piquant taste. The salt in the cheese crystallizes out during the ripening process, which is why you often see the salt crystals in crumbled cheese. The crumbly cheese has a hard structure and 'crumbles' when cut, hence the name.

Combine crumble cheese

Crumbled cheese fits very well on one cheese board, with a good mustard or cheese dip. Take the cheese out of the fridge an hour before consumption, this way the taste comes out best. Brokkelkaas is really the hero of the drink moment. Combine it with a glass of Bordeaux, Piemonte or a delicious port. Brokkelkaas also combines very well with dark beer, such as the Affligem Dubbel.
